S.G. Swain

Swain began writing songs in 1978 after being inspired by Neil Young's classic album "Comes A Time." He says "That's when I realized a shakey voice is not necessarily a liability; sometimes it can work in your favor". Swain likes to write about misfits. "Most of the characters in my songs try to do their best, but cannot." Other Swain influences include Randy Newman, John Hartford, Loudon Wainwright, Talking Heads and local country music legend Gene Grubbs. Swain recently completed a novel entitled "Warren Grubber's Guts" which is "a tour de force of adolescent dysfunction" according to one reader.

Now available from Outside Records: S.G. Swain's "Confessions of an Ectomorph (Vol. 1)" and "Doin' What A Boy Does Best (Confessions of an Ectomorph Vol. 3)." Click here for the Outside Records catalog page.
